How to add Twitch alerts to OBS
Alerts reach OBS as a browser source: a link you paste once. Here are the steps, and what to do if nothing shows.
The steps
- Sign in to Switchbud with Twitch.
- Open Alerts. At the top, under “Add to OBS”, press Show, then Copy.
- In OBS, under Sources, click +, then Browser. Name it “Switchbud alerts” and paste the link into URL.
- Set the size to 1920 × 1080 and tick “Control audio via OBS”, so the sounds reach your stream. Click OK. It covers the screen and is see-through until an alert plays.
- Back in Switchbud, press “Test in OBS”. A pretend follow plays on your stream.
Want everything at once?
On the Home screen, press “Download my OBS setup”. In OBS, open Scene Collection, then Import, pick the file, and choose Switchbud in the Scene Collection menu: your scenes, alert box and widgets are all there.
Nothing shows?
- Check the light next to the alert box in Switchbud: green means your streaming app has opened the link, and if it isn’t green, the link in OBS is wrong or the source is hidden.
- Copy the link again from Switchbud: it has a key that is yours alone.
- No sound? Tick “Control audio via OBS” and check the source isn’t muted in the mixer.
What about Streamlabs Desktop or XSplit?
The same link works anywhere that has a browser source: add one, paste the link, and press Test.
